Who Are God’s Children?
John 1:12 (NIV)
“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—”
True or False?
You may have heard that we are all God’s children, but for John 1:12 to be accurate, this cannot be true. According to John, Jesus gives us the right to become children of God. Wait a minute, the right, the power and authority to become the children of God? I thought that all of humanity were the children of God. Not so.
Children of the Devil
Reasonably, Jesus was making this point when He told some of His listeners that their father was the devil in John 8:44. “You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father.” Those are strong words from our Lord. Some are children of the devil. How do you know who is who?
How do you tell the difference?
Listen to John as he compares the two. “By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.” 1 John 3:10.
Conclusion
Here’s a circumstance where actions do speak louder than words. My advice, accept Jesus and act in accordance.
