Jesus: Ready or Not, Here I Come!
Is the Lord coming back soon?
Jesus has long been preparing His followers for His dramatic return to planet earth, but many realize that the Jesus is coming back soon. Jesus has told us beforehand what would happen when He returned, and it’s happening just as He said. Biblical scholars say that the signs of His return are all around us. It’s true that we’re getting closer and closer to the end of this age and the dawning of a new one.
Are we prepared for the return of Jesus Christ?
Someone once said, “There was a time when it was easier to be a believer than an atheist. Nowadays it’s the other way around.” This statement has been on my mind since those words were first spoken, and as I watch the world change before my eyes with every passing day, I can’t help but wonder if we’re prepared for Jesus Christ’s return.
Signs of the Times
There are many signs that point to the soon return of Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us that we should always be ready for His return. We can’t tell when Jesus will return, but it is certain that He will return.
The teaching of the New Testament is that the Second Coming is to be an outward, visible, and personal return of Christ. We know that this is the clear teaching of Jesus himself.
It is equally evident in the teachings of the book of Acts and the Epistles.
In Acts 1:11, we read, “They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”
In 1 Thessalonians 4:16, Paul declares, “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God.” In 2 Peter 3:3–12, we read, “In the last day’s mockers shall come … saying, Where is the promise of his coming?”
In James 5:8 also: “Be ye also patient; establish your hearts; for the coming of the Lord is at hand.”
And in Revelation 22:12, the language is: “Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to render to each man according as his work is.”
Ready or Not, Hear I Come
Jesus’ return is near. New Testament verses on the return of Christ center on our responsibility to be morally prepared, spiritually alert, and diligently serving. and praying for the Lord’s coming. The Bible forewarns us that it is not too soon to get ready for His return. Jesus warned us to be prepared for His return. He told the disciples to get ready for His return by lifting up their eyes to the heavens and keeping watch, and by being prepared for His coming.
